THE first nominees for this year’s Pride of Jersey Awards are announced in today’s JEP… and there is just over a week left for Islanders to put forward other candidates.
A plethora of nominations has been made since this year’s awards were launched three weeks ago, and the deadline for submissions is midnight on Monday 26 August.
The awards, which will be presented at a ceremony later in the year, honour individuals, charities and other organisations who go the extra mile.
This is the ninth year the event has been staged, and the 2024 categories include Young Ambassador, Environmentalist and Mental Health Champion.
All those nominated in the 14 categories will be put forward to a public vote, with the overall winners being selected by a panel of judges.
Each winner will receive a prize worth £1,000 from the category sponsor.
For the third year in a row, the special Gary Burgess Award returns, with this accolade being presented to a community champion chosen by members of the media and the late journalist’s loved ones.
