In 2022, a special new award in honour of the late journalist Gary Burgess was introduced.

The Gary Burgess Award was created to honour the popular and dedicated broadcaster, who died in 2022 following a battle with cancer. This award is to be presented to an individual who acts as a guiding light for the Island, supporting the community through their positive words or actions.

The winner will be decided by Mr Burgess’ friends, colleagues in the media community and a member of the sponsor, All Island Media.
