THE JEP’s Pride of Jersey Awards has got off to a flying start with more than 50 nominations being received in the first week.
Islanders have come out in force to nominate their community heroes across categories ranging from Neighbour of the Year and Environmentalist of the Year to Community Champion and Inspirational Leader.
The firs of the nominees will be showcased tomorrow with the launch of our daily nominations page which will run throughout the summer.
Andy Sibcy, JEP editor, said: ‘We are delighted with the response we have had so far. The awards have been running for eight years now, but every year we hear more heart-warming and inspirational stories about Islanders going above and beyond for their community.
‘If you know someone special – whether it’s a doting grandparent, a thoughtful neighbour, a child who has overcome adversity or someone who works tirelessly to safeguard our environment – please think about giving them the recognition they deserve and nominate them for a Pride award.’
All those nominated in the 14 categories will be put forward to a public vote, with the overall winners being selected by a panel of judges. The finalists will be invited to the awards ceremony later this year. The winner will receive a prize worth £1,000 from the category sponsor.
